leave a comment »

By the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill, Bishop Mark of Egoryevsk, Secretary of Moscow Patriarchia for foreign parishes, in the Holy Life-Giving Trinity church in Horoshevo (Moscow), performed the priest ordination of the Deacon Daniel (Danai) Wanna from St. Nicholas Chapel in Bangkok, Thailand.

Fr. Daniel (Danai) Wanna became the first Thai Orthodox Christian priest. Fr. Danai finished his studies in St. Petersburg Theological Seminary in 2008. On 28th August 2008, he was ordinated as a deacon by the Metropolitan of Smolensk and Kaliningrad Kirill (currently His Holiness Patriarch) and sent to serve in Bangkok. Because of the growth of the Orthodox flock from Thai locals, as well as the opening of new parishes in Thailand, on the 5th of June 2009 Fr. Danai was ordinated as a priest. He is going to serve as an Orthodox priest in his motherland Thailand.
